The shoot process from start to finish
For a majority of people, a photoshoot isn’t exactly a regular occurrence, and the process from start to finish isn’t a very well known one. And if you’re anything like me, you like to know more of the details of how something is going to work before you commit to it, so in this month’s blog, I’ll be taking you through the shoot process, from initial enquiry, to wall art delivery, outlining each step, as well as rough time frames.
Where have I been?
There’s been a lot happening this summer, and I’ve not kept up with emails or blogging because of it. Both personally and professionally I’ve been expanding and growing, it’s been incredible.
Portrait Days - Coming to a yard near you
Equine portrait days - coming to a yard near you!
At the end of April, I did my first of hopefully many equine portrait days at one of my local livery yards, read this month's blog to see what it entailed, how it went, and what you need to do if you'd like to have one at your yard.
The type of person who books a photoshoot
Through riding and the joy of owning a horse, we’re able to go places where others can’t, where others won’t. We push the limits, take pleasure in the refinement of improving ourselves as horsewomen and as humans, because we know that there’s some lessons that are best learnt though horses.
The Spring/summer shoot style guide
Most of us aren't natural born fashionistas that can pick out a super stylish look with our eyes closed, so the prospect of clothing can be a dauting one, and then you have the added pressure of knowing you'll have these images for life, so you need the clothing to be something you love and feel amazing in. That's why I'm putting together this spring/summer shoot style guide, to give you some outfit inspiration and guidance on how you can choose the right outfit for you and your shoot.
How to make your dream shoot a reality
I know so so many of you who have said to yourselves and your friends "Oh I'd love to book a shoot with my horse" and have never actually made it happen. You've sat with that dream and let it gather dust, never polishing it off and making it a reality. And I know deep down you really want it, but the easier option is putting it off time and time again. Or is that the easier option? Is it easier to spend all your time wishing? Yes. But will the action of actually doing it bring you so much more joy and elation than wishing ever could? Absolutely!!
The Autumn/winter shoot style guide
You'll also want to think about colour choices: what works best with your horse? What colours suit you best? Will certain colours clash with the shoot location? This last one is less of a worry in winter when all the leaves are gone and backdrops tend to be more muted, but in autumn, you may want to avoid certain colours to would conflict with autumnal tones.
Photography with a purpose
Purpose is key to everything I do in my life, especially photography. It's so much more than just an image.
